ABOUT SHANNON GRAY
I started my photography business not long after moving to Colorado in 2010.
My work is a mix of journalistic and editorial style photography. I have a background in advertising and journalism so I feel like it’s a good mix of both. I love working with laid back and fun people! I also love capturing the beauty within everyone. I take pride in my images and edit everything personally.
I am married to my best friend, Jake, who also shoots with me at weddings. We have been married since 2007 and have amazing identical twin daughters. If I am not working, I am either traveling, taking our family to the movies or museums or hiking and camping in the great outdoors.
I love the saying, “Collect moments, not things.” I have a deep love for caffeine. I have an incredible thirst for travel. I am a bit of a contradiction: I love the outdoors and also love being in big cities.
Q+A WITH SHANNON GRAY
WHAT IS A SHANNON GRAY WEDDING?
It’s one that is full of moments. The big stuff, the little stuff. Life is made up of these little moments that we collect and a wedding day is a special day to remember, not only for the couple, but for all the guests.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN COMMON WITH YOUR CLIENTS?
We are laid back and enjoy spending time with our loved ones. We enjoy having real moments and making memories.
WHAT MADE ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE EVENTS SO SPECIAL?
I feel like they are all special in their own way. Whether it’s a speech from a best man that has everyone in the room crying to seeing the bride hug her grandparent. All of these moments make it special for me to witness and be able to document the day.
DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE.
Journalistic with a splash of editorial. I love candid moments, but also know when it’s time to do something a little different.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
My family and friends. Documenting real moments with people who love and care about each other.
WHAT TOOL CAN YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?
There are so many tools I cannot live without. My camera. My computers. My phone. They are all pretty important, but I also am working on the whole “being present” thing and savoring moments with friends and family more. I can always work, but I won’t always have those moments so it’s important for me to embrace “the now.”
WHY SHOULD A COUPLE MARRY IN THE DEEP CREEK AREA?
It is a really beautiful place with some amazing locations to photograph. It is filled with nice people who want to make your wedding day the most special day you have ever had.
WHAT IS THE HIGHEST COMPLIMENT A COUPLE CAN GIVE YOU?
When they cry when they first see their images or when I get emails saying how much they are thankful for having me at their wedding.
WHO IS YOUR BUSINESS’S STYLE ICON?
Kate Hudson or maybe Jennifer Lawrence. They both seem to be laid back and cool and still have amazing style!
IF YOUR BUSINESS WAS A BEVERAGE, WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?
A good cup of chai tea. It’s sweet and spicy.
