ABOUT THE BACK FARM
The Back Farm has been a full service venue since the spring of 2016. However, prior to the construction of our open air structure, we hosted five weddings and numerous other special events and parties. We started our business because we had so many friends and relatives tell us we have the perfect property to host weddings. A little reassurance was all we needed to get the ball rolling.
I was born and raised in the area, and my husband is from just down the road in Frostburg. I come from a family of small business owners and had an income tax business that my son, Garrett now manages. My husband is in his 32nd year of teaching and we enjoy spending the summer on the farm. In addition to our son, we have a daughter, Shelby and son-in-law, Hutch. We have two granddaughters, Meadow DeVore and Phoebe Hutcheson with another on the way!

Q+A WITH THE BACK FARM
WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN COMMON WITH YOUR CLIENTS?
An appreciation and love for the rolling mountains in Garrett County. Couples love our venue because of the view, which is the same reason we choose to wake up here every morning!
WHAT MADE ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE EVENTS SO SPECIAL?
I am biased, but my favorite event would have been our very first wedding on the grounds in 2012 when my daughter got married. Not only was it a beautiful August day, but everything came together so perfectly. We had so many people compliment the view and we knew then that there were big things to come!
DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
Casual, simple, calm.
WHAT TOOL CAN YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?
My cell phone! It is my connection to everything.
WHAT IS THE HIGHEST COMPLIMENT A COUPLE CAN GIVE YOU?
That we are easy to work with and they would recommend our venue to others.
WHY SHOULD A COUPLE MARRY IN THE DEEP CREEK AREA?
The view, the weather, the colors, the fresh air, the people, the wild life…. The list goes on!
WHAT IS THE BACK FARM WEDDING?
Any wedding that the Bride and Groom are happy with our venue and services is a perfect wedding to me.
IF YOUR BUSINESS WAS A BEVERAGE, WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?
An Arnold Palmer because the setting is fresh, crisp and tasteful.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
WHO IS YOUR BUSINESS STYLE ICON?
We don’t have a “who” as much as a “what”… The culture of our region is woven into the wood of the structure. From the team of Amish men who helped build the structure to the antique farm tools hanging on the walls as decoration, The Back Farm on Piney Run embraces Garrett County living.
