BEHIND THE SCENES: ON A BOAT
Imagine skimming along the shoreline of a lake, surrounded by mountainous horizons and relaxing views. You arrive at a quiet, seemingly private cove and a slight wind blows as you sway back and forth and take it all in. All while snuggling in the arms of your love, ready to say “I do” on a boat fit for two.
If you ask us, the thought of having a wedding on a boat at Deep Creek Lake sounds amazing! Our excitement and inspiration comes from a meeting that we, the ladies behind The Deep Creek Wedding, had over the summer…on a boat! Deep Creek Marina in McHenry, MD graciously hosted us for our evening adventure. We were given a private driver for a couple hours and it seemed like we had the lake to ourselves. While chatting about The Deep Creek Wedding, taking in all the views and enjoying some wine and bruschetta, we realized how neat a wedding on a boat would be. Intimate, unique, adventurous. Let the details be minimal, the environment naturally beautiful and join friends and family for a party later.

One thing we love about Deep Creek and Garrett County is the variety of weddings that can take place here. We also love the uniqueness and personality that can happen along with them. What could be more unique, intimate and adventurous than getting married on a boat with no one around? And talk about being romantic! You and your love sharing an intimate wedding ceremony while the beauty and quiet of nature surrounds? Romantic (and unique), indeed!
Boating is a largely popular activity here at Deep Creek Lake. From pontoons to speed boats to sail boats and paddle boats, there’s always a wide variety of watercraft available during the warmer months. While residents and vacationers enjoy both the relaxation and fun that boating has to offer, we think it could be pretty exciting to use boating in lieu of a church or traditional ceremony spot when getting married. And you can absolutely do it at Deep Creek Lake!

Having a wedding on a boat isn’t a completely new thing, but it is rare in this area. We hope to see more couples imagine new ways of creating the perfect wedding on the lake or on a boat soon!
